Chandler, Arizona - Dennis Woodard, age 83, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on May 23, 2026.

Dennis was born on December 8, 1942, in Washington, DC, to Oscar and Ethel Woodard. He grew up in Emerson, New Jersey, where he attended Westwood High School and enjoyed playing baseball. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in secondary education and his master's degree in counseling from Arizona State University.

Dennis spent his career as a US history teacher at Cortez High School in Phoenix and as a guidance counselor at Apollo High School in Glendale. He was an avid reader and history fanatic and enjoyed watching sports and traveling to Ireland. Friends and family remember him for his sense of humor and ability to make fast friends.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Madaline Isom; son-in-law, Matthew Isom; sister, Joyce Tucker; and brother-in-law, Bob Tucker.

A memorial will be held on June 27 in the Elmwood Senior Living library at 2555 N. Price Rd., Chandler, starting at 1:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
